Test Structure & Passes
Once a skater has passed all FARS basic skill grades and is ready to move on to the next level, they can be entered for a standard test in Figures, Free and dance - together or seperately, there are 9 tests for each disipline starting at Elementary to Gold Star. Two external & FARS qualified Judges will be present and a test fee applies (this does not cover the two judges travel expenses which must be covered by the skaters), a minimum of five tests must be entered for one date. Once skated, straight after results of a Pass or Fail will be given to the skater.

Federation of Artistic Roller Skating (FARS) grades sessions
FARS grade sessions follow the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating skill levels. Grade 1 requirements start from skating and stopping without falling over and progress through to Grade 6 which involves some basic jumps, spin, etc. Then on to seperate grades 7, 8 & 9 in the three Artistic Disiplines, Freestyle, Figures & Dance.
On Mondays, each grade has its own section of the rink and an instructor to explain what is required at that level. The onus is on the individual to practice (and practice!) the 4 skills until the instructor feels they are able to pass the grade. The judge will then come and assess their ability, if they pass they can move onto the next grade, and get the relevant grade badge! Grade 5 & 6 are held on Thursdays, alongside RetroSkate Artistic Roller Skating Club's sessions.
Grades 1 - 4
Mondays 5pm - 6pm £4.50 (including skate hire if required)
Thursdays 4pm - 5.30pm basic skills / 5.30pm - 7pm* basic skills plus £5.00
One of our first Grade tests held on 24th June 2010!
